About this document
The Natural Resource Management (NRM) Community Forum was held in conjunction with the NRM Ministerial Council meeting in Brisbane on 10th and 11th April 2003.
The purpose of the Forum was to provide an opportunity for NRM community organisation representatives to exchange views and provide advice to Ministers responsible for natural resource management.
In 2002 the NRMMC proposed that an annual working community forum based on the Natural Heritage Trust (NHT) and National Action Plan for Salinity and Water Quality (NAP) regions be developed. The intention was to establish a mechanism through which community partners in NRM programs and expert advisors could generate comment and advice to the NRMMC. The April 2003 Forum was the first of these annual events.
The over-arching theme for the Forum was regional natural resource management in a national context − making the shift from an individual project approach to an integrated regional approach to natural resource management.
