Western Australian Joint Steering Committee
A Joint Steering Committee (JSC) has been established to manage the implementation of the National Action Plan for Salinity and Water Quality (NAP) and the Natural Heritage Trust (NHT) in Western Australia.
Role
The roles of the JSC are set out in the relevant bilateral agreements between the Commonwealth and Western Australia, but particular responsibilities are to advise Ministers on:
- the accreditation of regional NRM strategies; and
- the adoption of investment plans for implementation of investments arising from regional NRM strategies.
Membership
The JSC includes representatives of the Australian and Western Australian governments. In addition, one local government representative from Western Australian Local Government Association, one community representative nominated by the State NRM Council and a nominee of the Chairs of the Regional NRM groups are non-voting members of the JSC.
