Target Area Grants

Target Area Grants are a continuing commitment under the National Stream of the National Landcare Programme. The National Landcare Programme is administering contracts already in place and this programme is now closed to further rounds.

The Target Areas Grants programme is providing over $35 million (GST exclusive) in funding for 29 projects which are to be completed by 30 June 2018.

Grants ranging between $200 000 and $2.5 million (GST exclusive)  provided funding for projects focusing on six priority areas:

  • the Central Australian Connection
  • Cape York
  • the Kimberley region
  • Tasmania
  • south-west Western Australia, and
  • urban waterways and coastal environments.

These projects will improve the condition, extent and connectivity of native habitat and manage the threat of invasive species in connected landscapes and will help communities, environmental groups and land managers to enhance biodiversity and build greater resilience across the Australian landscape in a changing climate.
