Setting and reporting on targets

Integrated natural resource management (INRM) plans were developed by each regional body and form the basis for regional investment from the National Action Plan for Salinity and Water Quality (NAP), and the extension of the Natural Heritage Trust (the Trust).

The difficulty in measuring the results of on-ground activities was an initial criticism of the first phase of the Trust. Another criticism was the lack of strategic and targeted investment.

The accreditation process of INRM plans ensures targets are set and included in the plans. The plans and their investment strategies also ensure that adequate provision is made for ongoing monitoring and evaluating the progress in reaching these targets.
